While staying at Sandals Dunn's River resort we visited Sandals Ocho Rios Resort. Both Sandals resorts have free shuttles that run on the hour from morning to 7:15pm. I enjoyed walking around Sandals Ocho Rios resort and could see why some folks would love it there while others would prefer Sandals Dunn's River or Sandals Negril resorts.
Sandals Ocho Rios is a resort with expansive beautiful gardens, ponds, and falls. To get from place to place you pass through all of this. It provides many romantic quiet spots to sit and has several smaller pools for a more intimate setting. If you want quiet and don't depend on the beach you will be very happy here. The beach is not large and the tall buildings shade the beach. Because of this sun bathers must lay out on three piers to get their sun. Swimming and Water Sports are done in the areas within the piers.

While the Sandals Ocho Rios beach is small they have an active water sports area and had many hobie cats and kayaks out. This Sandals resort also has several great restaurants and a very cool bar/disco on the beach called "Jamies". Sandals Ocho Rios resort is close to a great shopping mall and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. Many people also climb Dunn's River Falls as one of their off-resort tours. In late 2004/2005 Sandals Ocho Rios resort will be merged with the old Beaches Grand Sport to become a very large Sandals Grande Ocho Rios resort.

Pools at Sandals Ocho Rios resort are much smaller than Sandals Negril and Sandals Dunn's River resorts. Many guests who like pools take the shuttle to Sandals Dunn's River resort and spend the day there. I found the pools nice as long as there aren't too many people there. In 2004 Sandals Ocho Rios and Beaches Grand Sport merged and will become Sandals Grande Ocho Rios. Sandals Grande Ocho Rios will have 100 private and semi-private pools in their villa of eden. They also have 7 other pools featuring swim up bars.
